alarms in Calendar or iCal: scripts or automator?

  • Subject: alarms in Calendar or iCal: scripts or automator?

I have several alarms set in Calendar (formerly iCal), which are Automator alarm workflows. Virtually all of these alarms are actually very simple, "Run Applescript" workflows, where I copy and paste my applescripts into.

Here is my question: isn't it just as easy to just write the script in the applescript editor (which I do anyway, to test it, etc.), save it, then in Calendar, for the alert, call the applescript? (as opposed to creating an alarm with Automator……)

Do both methods achieve the same goal? If so, is there a preferred method, one over the other? why?

Thanks.
Dee Dee
