I used 'startup disk' in an example/ test of the getting the modification date suggestions because I know that the current disk in use is being updated almost constantly, so it's easy to tell whether the date returned is accurate or not (and can be double checked with other methods).
Clearly, no one is going to try and erase their startup disk (not without a certain amount of frustration anyway…!!).
