I did some searching and found a library, but it only gives the last backup date and lets you trigger a backup, which is not my goal. So, does anyone know of any way to get the current status of Time Machine, and the date of the next scheduled backup? Other information would be welcomed as well (target disk, for instance). Thanks in advance. I should note that I'm not a Time Machine user (I use Crashplan to back up), and I don't plan on setting up Time Machine just to test this unless I really have to as I don't think I even have a drive big enough laying around.
Hi Alex,
Someone has written an AppleScript library for Time Machine operations. There's nothing for "time to next backup" or "TM is backing up now". However, the library includes handlers for "last backup", "oldest complete backup", "get TM log", and "trigger TM now". It's a start!
