Hi,
For years I have been Scripting sounds like this;
set mantelSound to (path to documents folder as string) & "clutter:Sounds:mantel" as alias
tell application "Play Sound" to play mantelSound at volume currentVolume
Now on my sisters new (2013) 27" iMac application "Play Sound" no longer works.
Primarily I have tried "System 7 Sound" and "aiff" sounds.
These all work on my computers (listed below) and a 2006 iMac.
On her computer the aiff sound will play, with iTunes but then iTunes goes on to play all selected sounds. Not good for alert sounds. That may be cured with a preference somewhere? But I really don't want to startup iTunes for a one time sound.
There must be a better way. The System must have a way to play it's sounds?
Suggestions would be appreciated.
TIA,
Robert Poland
