"defaults read" the back-up, "defaults write" the result to the active
preferences? That would probably be less effort. :)
While absentmindedly trackpadding over the "defaults read" result in
AppleScript Editor, I notice that bits of it get lassoed into context
menus which me to Create New Contacts with them. That's almost as useful
as the huge tool tip which otherwise pops up shortly afterwards and
obliterates what I'm trying to read. ;)
