Quicktime Script examples

I have a need to trim fixed amounts of seconds from multiple movie clips, front and back. In order to automate this, we upgraded to QT Pro.

In the manual, is a reference to examples (page 57, the reference is to "www.apple.com/applescript/quicktime"). However, this link no longer appears to exist. Does someone have a link to these Apple-provided examples?

I looked at the dictionary. Specifically at the "trim" command.

The dictionary says:

select v : Select a range of time
select specifier : the movie whose selection is to be set
[at integer] : starting time of the selection
[to integer] : end time of the selection

trim v : Remove all content before and after the current selection
trim specifier : movie

I could not find an example online of how to select and trim a piece of a movie. Is the time in frames? I hope so because these cuts need to be accurate down to the frame. All our clips are at 29.97 FPS and I need cuts of 5 secs, 10 secs, 12 secs and the last 2 secs from each clip.
Anyone with experience scripting QT7 that can point me in the right direction?

TIA,

Jim Brandt
