Hi,
It seems to me that that the quoting issues is secondary, that your original issue is that you don't like the fact that instead of the HFS path that Smile gives, Script Editor pastes the POSIX path - ?.
My workflow has been to have a pair of menu scripts for the Finder, mac-path of selection, and posix-path of selection, which just put the desired path type on the clipboard, then paste in S.E.. Still a two-step, but at least doesn't involve opening a new script editor window and such as you described.

alias "OS_X:Users:lutherfuller:Desktop:some file.rtf"
I wanted the same thing in ASE, but got …
/Users/lutherfuller/Desktop/some file.rtf
which is very undesirable. This happens in Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks and probably in earlier systems. I have looked for a preference to change this behavior, but found none.
The only work-around seems to be to open a new window in ASE, then drag & drop the file to get the posix path, then edit and run this …
POSIX file "/Users/lutherfuller/Desktop/some file.rtf" the result as alias
to get the desired result in the ASE Event Log, then copy and paste.
Does anyone know more about this ? Is there a better work-around ?
