The Future of AppleScript

  • Subject: The Future of AppleScript

Hi AppleScript:

Now that _javascript_-based application scripting will be supported from Yosemite on.
I wonder what AppleScript's future will be.
Will we see a (long) decline of AppleScript
or a AppleScript-_javascript_ dynamics similar to Swift-ObjC in other areas? Maybe this is not an appropriate comparison ...

My guess is that given the sheer number of existing scripts and AppleScript-based scripts around, AppleScript will live on. But _javascript_ will appeal to a broader community and it could outweigh AppleScript's user community in the long run. The questions is: Will _javascript_ have all the access that AppleScript does? If so, then it's quite possible that AppleScript loses its edge as a result and sink to the deprecation state.

The thing is that I'm new to both AppleScript and _javascript_ and would like to
focus on learning only one of them to get by in app scripting.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Beinan
