running Applescript applications as alarms in Calendar on Mavericks

Hi,

So I am moving our systems to Mavericks and we use a LOT of Applescript applications as alarms in Calendar under ML.

I am storing the applications in ~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Calendar/ , which is where Automator puts alarm workflows.

When the alarm runs however, I get a message that the file cannot be opened.
The work around I found is to manually run the app from the finder, then from that point forward, it will run when the alarm triggers it.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there no way to just put these apps in the folder and set the alarm and expect that they will run without having to prime each one?

Thanks for any insight.
Dee Dee
