Mail in Mavericks is horribly broken.
I have rules which do three things:
If TOorFROM contains JOE
1… Move message to mailbox JOE
2… Play sound CHIME
3… Run Applescript “Speak Name of Sender”.
These all worked fine on 10.6.8.
On Incoming mail in Mavericks, #1 and #2 will fire, #3 is ignored.
Apply them to a message in the SENT folder (which I usually do, to move them to the corresponding folder for JOE), and only #2 fires. It won’t even move the message.
10.9.1 didn’t fix it.
Apple has heard about it plenty from me, it won’t hurt if you PROVIDE MAIL FEEDBACK in the MAIL menu.
As far as I can tell, the whole “run Applescript from a rule” thing has been ripped up and forgotten.
Or maybe they’ll fix it in the next version.
