Setting Password on PDFs

Hi all,

I’ve got a situation where I need to save PDF files as “Read Only”. I can see that if I use the “Edit/Protection/Manage Security Policies” menu item, I can do exactly what I need, make it still readable by everyone, but only editable by those who have the password.

However, I can’t seem to find any examples, and can’t see anything in the dictionary. (I did find other people experiencing the same issues.)

The only suggestion I saw was to use GUI scripting with Preview (not an option)

I did see another suggestion to use javascript to set the Security Policies. But I’d prefer to do a native AS solution if it exists. Otherwise I’ll have a crack at JS, although I don’t know where to start there.

Thanks

Wayne Melrose
