No kidding.

Install SMILE, and you might be able to do something like this:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
set _text to readtext alias ((path to home folder as text) & "test_directory:PDF_TEST.pdf")
set _transactions to find text "(^\\d+/.+\\r^ID:.+)" in _text using "\\1" with regexp, all occurrences and string result
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Depending upon the formatting of the PDF.
