I was able to clean up the disk list used in the 'choose from list' command (as I reported a couple of days ago).
But, in order to do that, I needed to modify the id information supplied by SE.
I then encountered a problem:
The Finder cannot change the visibility of a disk;
which required me to use SE;
which required me to use SE's id format;
which required me to display SE's messy looking id format in 'choose from list.
I think SE is using a "safe" id format, which may be a good idea.
Yesterday, I reverted my application to the previous version.
