Hello,
Here is a shell command, you will get an error if the user does not exist.
id <user>
PS - I’m just curious. Are you using chflags to change whether something is hidden? In other words I believe you can hid and unhide the Library with chflags nohidden ~/Library. The same is true for disk volumes on my desktop, I just tested and it worked in my case anyway (but maybe it’s because I’m an admin user).
1. chflags hidden /Volumes/VOLUME-NAME
2. killall Finder
3. The icon disappears
4. chflags nohidden /Volumes/VOLUME-NAME
5. killall Finder
6. The icon comes back

Bryan
