Because, in Yosemite, Apple moved this folder actions functionality to Automator but apparently did not want to break existing scripts. AppleScript dictionaries from Apple and third parties are full of hidden synonyms like this, often for reasons like this.
Unfortunately, the move to Automator isn't mentioned in the AppleScript Release Notes for Yosemite. This is presumably because the AppleScript Release Notes are intended for the most part to be limited to the AppleScript language and Apple scripting additions, but I think that is a policy that ought to be revisited.
