Sorry I missed the initial activate statement and the multiple language requirement.

I believe if you use my first option modified to fit your needs then it will work on Yosemite. I tried separately without the "set frontmost to true” and also with the uppercase “F” and in both cases it failed to work.

activate application "Finder"
tell application "System Events" to tell process "Finder"
set frontmost to true
keystroke "f" using {command down}
end tell
