Create link in OSX Mail

  • Subject: Create link in OSX Mail

I am tired of creating links by hand in OSX Mail (which is not smart enough to do this automatically).

1) Select the URL text
2) Copy the URL
3) Control-click to bring up the menu
4) Choose Link
5) Choose Add Link submenu
6) Sometimes agree to convert the email format
7) Paste the URL
8) Hit RETURN to close the dialog box.

Phew, there has to be an easier way. But is it possible to applescript this in OSX Mail directly, or do I need to use System Events?
