Sorry, I must have missed an email, not sure what to do with this.
If you are thinking that I need to optimize the database is some way, I need to explain how it’s created:
We have a custom Cocoa program written by Rob Martin. We call it the “Temps Tracker”. It runs on a server and listens for changes to a folder called Temps. Inside that folder there are 100’s of folders, each of which has a “genre” name, for example “Ambient”, etc. If an AIF file gets dropped on one of those folders, the Tracker converts it to a lossless (.m4a) format, tags the ID3 tag “alb” as, eg, “Ambient”, and writes this info to the sqlite db. Unfortunately it does not check the db to see if the file already existed in some other folder, which is the purpose of my script.
So I have no direct control over the sqlite db.
All this will become unnecessary when Rob finishes a new version, which will prevent duplicates from being created, but that is some time off for now.
