Script Utilizing an Alternate Printer

I'd like to write a script that has an application print a document with something other than the default printer, i.e., (using pseudocode)

tell current application to print document doc1 using printer printer2

If not, is there a way to reset the default printer?

Finally, does anyone have good documentation about using lpr on MacOSX?
