On a related but somewhat off topic note, is there any way to execute a shell script file directly from the finder without the terminal popping up? I know to mark it executable so I can double click it, but the terminal always pops up to execute it. I also realize I can do it by embedding it in an Applescript application but I was wondering if there is any way to do it directly.

For example:

#!/bin/bash
# Sample Shell Script
echo This is a Sample Shell Script
