Setting up Distributable Script App to Delete a File in /Library/Application Support

I'm trying to put together an Uninstall script for end-users, which
among other things, must kill an application process residing in
/Library/Application Support, that might find itself with system
ownership, and also delete the application.
Running Yosemite, even with the application set to user ownership, I get
an "Permission denied" number 1" error when trying to delete it (using do
shell script "rm -rf <PATH_TO_APP>).
If I use sudo, I get "'sudo: no tty present and no askpass program
specified' number 1"
Suggestions, please? Thanks in advance.
