This work-around can fail if your window width is wide enough to grow the name column.
In other words:
Open a Finder window.
Bring up the view Cmd-J and set to just Date Modified, so you have only 2 columns - name and date-modified.
Resize the window to the right and watch the Name Column width magically change.
When the window has this magical width condition going on the AppleScript won't work.
You need enough columns open in the window so they are wider than the window width.
Hopefully that makes sense.
