I have one solution done in Keyboard Maestro that calls caffeinate for 60 minutes whenever Toast launches. This is OK but sometimes ends up calling multiple iterations of caffeinate when I am burning multiple discs.

Is that a problem?

Not as yet. Wasn’t sure about multiple instances of caffeinate perhaps tripping over each other. So far so good for now.

I installed a menubar utility caffeine years ago, maybe it is still around, then you have the problem of ui scripting that menubar utility probably, but maybe it takes parameters, in some form.

Caffeine is free from the App-Store and is AppleScriptable.

I've been using it for years.

As it turns out, tying caffeinate to Toast with a bash script (caffeinate -i '/Applications/Toast 12 Titanium/Toast Titanium.app/Contents/MacOS/Toast Titanium') did exactly what I wanted twice, and then Toast wouldn’t work any more. I had to reinstall Toast to get it working.

I’m going back to the Keyboard Maestro macro that I had previously been using which runs the bash line “caffeinate -i -t 3600” whenever Toast is launched. I suspect this is doing the same thing as the Caffeine app Christopher Stone and Tommy mentioned.

Thanks for the suggestions
