Was this ever working? I mean did you use to get your actual PATH?
As far as I know, do shell script and the Terminal environments are not the same.
I used to use the c-shell in Terminal and do shell script was bash.
I can confirm your results, for EC. I am going to check for earlier versions of the OS.
