OMM, this script works the same as if I hit option-f (doesn't do anything,
unless there is a text cursor, then it gives me a ƒ).

If I hit command-f I get the searching this mac window.

How does your user interface respond to option-f and command-f?

(I agree that there are better ways to add an ƒ to a file name.)

>tell application “System Events” to keystroke “f” using {option down}
