Ah, probably not. My bad. Re-reading the ‘do shell script’ tech note

https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/technotes/tn2065/_index.html  says:

do shell script inherits its parent’s environment

it looks like ‘do shell script’ wouldn’t run from launchd either and, alas, that message you’re getting is spot on.
