FWIW, I set up a new calendar called Jay FM in iCloud, created a new event in it using your earlier script, closed and quit Calendar.app and gave it time to travel off into the there, then ran my script on it. Obviously a calendar with one event is no real test, but it seemed to delete it quickly enough (0.24 seconds).
