AppleScript does that to everybody...for about the first 10,000 hours or so.
It’s peculiar, there’s no two ways around it. However, there’s things that you can do with it you can’t do with anything else, and it’s a very handy tool to have in your box. Also, you’ve already stumbled upon the AppleScript’s greatest secret: this mailing list.
