Sorry, my bad.
Apparently  "window" does not work with those applications.
It used to but no more.

I am a bit confused.
i could swear I’ve started with “document" and it did not work.
Now it works with “documents" even on a computer where I’ve not run Ed’s “beginning” script.

But, apparently it does not work for Yvan. (???)
It works with both “document" and “window" for BBEdit  up to Yosemite,  it works with all apps in Mavericks.
When I read the release notes for Yosemite, there was no mention of such change.

My apologies if I assumed I started with document (although I am pretty sure I did).
