I’ve email Mathew Drayton asking if he could add a new command, to set the mirror type by Applescript. Hope he can.

I'm sure he can, but will he?  :)

Mathew's a good guy.  If you've made a good case, and it's not overly difficult I'm sure he will — but it could take a while.

As much UI-Scripting as you do I hope you've bought a copy of UI Browser.
