How exactly did you relaunch Finder?

Since El Capitan, I’ve found that ‘killall Finder’ in Terminal is not as reliable way of purging Finder’s memory caches as either of the following:

i. log out of the user account, log back in

or

ii. hold down control and option key, click on Finder;s Dock icon and choose ‘Relaunch’.
