Opening a file or making a new file 'without showing window’ will cause
the window to not show. E.g.:
set myDocument to open "Macintosh HD:test.indt" without showing window
Not sure what you mean by ‘black screen’ but if you do see a window (black
possibly), but it isn’t live drawing, then the issue is this InDesign
property being set:
set properties of script preferences to {user interaction level:never
interact, enable redraw:false}
