If you don't mind importing your MS Word document into Nisus Writer Pro, the latter has an extremely powerful native scripting language that is easy to learn and can perform your kind of search in a flash. Nisus Writer scripts can be called from AppleScript and can run AppleScripts.
Also, if you get stuck writing a Nisus Writer script, one of the Nisus programmers will promptly offer a solution on their web forum:
