That is correct! You suspect!
We have no idea of what were the reasons for Sal Soghoian abrupt departure from Apple.
If it means that Apple intends to phase out MacOS X, Macs, Automation etc, then yes we should worry.
If there were reasons we were not privy to, then we can’t comment.
I’d say that it is Apple’s responsibility to put a statement to the Automation crowd.
My personal view is that Apple has not tapped into the real power of automation, albeit, it being the one company that has devoted resources to it.
In general, people who use AppleScript in whatever capacity not just are Apple customers, they are in general opinion makers that introduces many other people to Macs, as is the case with my wife’s family.
Now, that there are reasons to be worried, there are.
People are complaining of the MacBook Pro, but what about the whole other line of Macs?
I believe we should ask that Apple clarifies the situation and let us know what are its plans for Automation.
I do, however, doubt it will disclose anything.
