With my 24/7 Safari page cycling app (that I recently posted, but am updating for bugs), sometimes the vertical scroll bar on sites cannot be ‘seen’ by Applescript, nor by ‘UI Browser’.
UI Browser actually reports the existence of the scrollbar, but does not hilite it, nor offer an Applescript to address it.
UI Browser doesn't see the scroll bar's children, either. Without the value indicator, you can't control the scroll position.
Safari and other browsers have always been a weak point for UI Browser. I plan eventually to add explicit support for all of the WebKit accessibility constants, but that won't necessarily resolve this particular issue.
In general, accessibility in websites has been in a constant state of flux for many years. As a result, using GUI Scripting with Safari and other browsers has been more difficult than with most applications.
