Use Activity Monitor, select Script Editor in the list, click the gear button and choose Spindump. (Sorry, I don't remember what version number Yosemite is, but it surely isn't 10.1.1, so the buttons might be different for you.) That might give you some idea what it's stuck on, which might point you in the right direction.
