Hi--
Using El Capitan (OS X 10.11.6), I find that Mail 9.3 is using lots of CPU
time, and I suppose that it's time for me to archive old messages. (I've kept
every message back to 1996.)
I'm thinking I'll move all messages received prior to some given date to a
special mailbox. Then I'll Export the mailbox and delete its contents.
Mail's "Archive" command wouldn't be easy to use because my messages are
scattered among dozens of folders. Mail's "Rules" don't allow specifying a
"Date received" (only a number of days ago.) So I'm thinking I'll write a
script to move all messages received before a particular date to a special
mailbox. Perhaps I could embed a smilepause command in its inner loop so that
the script itself doesn't hog my machine.
Before I start, I thought I'd ask: has anyone done this? Would you be willing
to share your script?
