Changing the pref toggles the load/no-load condition, but I suppose you're right.
Bob - if there's something substantively different than mine about your setup, this may not work out-of-the-box.
I'm using the Classic View in Mail.

The first script toggles the preferences AND exits in the Finder, not mail. Not nice.
I also use the Classic View.
The second script doesn't seem to do anything.
