Scripting the macOS Spelling Dictionary

Hey Folks,

Has anyone come up with a means to script adding words to the macOS dictionary in a way the system recognizes without logging-out and back in again?

The relevant files should be here:

~/Library/Spelling

There's an old script on MacScripter, but it's a bit out-of-date and doesn't manage to convince the system to update itself when words are added.

Best Regards,
Chris
