I’ve done that years ago.
From memory:
With UI on
a. Copy the icon to use in the Clipboard
b. choose a target item (I usually choosed a folder)
c. get file info
d. Tab to set the focus to the Icon
e. Tab to get out of the Icon area
f. Close the Get info image
btw: the Finder (process ?) have to be frontmost.
Unfortunately, my scrips is somewhere in my not sorted archives (better think at unavailable).

Emile

Hey Folks,
I think it is not possible to set a file or folder icon using vanilla AppleScript – true?
At the moment I want to use a .icns file to set an app's icon.
Can anyone help?
TIA.
