If I’m understanding Ed correctly, he doesn’t just need the excess image cropped, he wants them down sampled to the resolution they would have if they were placed at 100%, i.e if the image is reduced in InDesign to 50% of its actual size, its resolution in the document will be double its original resolution. I’ve always assumed the Crop Image Data to Frames option just crops any image that is outside the frame but doesn’t affect the file’s resolution.
