Ooops, no, you have to create an apples-mode folder in the snippets main folder and put them there. I guess that will be fixed when/if my second pull request is accepted.
Yasnippets comes with a template system too. I've had not time to investigate it, but it shouldn't be too hard to create more interesting snippets than the one already there.

And there is code folding in emacs too, by default, so you can code-fold comments easily. I guess tell blocks and similar need some work though.
