Hello, Using QuickTime Pro 7. I want to write a script that would create a new MOV file of mp4 file by deleting some tracks and then save it as a reference movie on closing. I found a command in the dictionary which is "save reference movie" required to be used with a labeled parameter "using descriptors". The command is defined as follows: "a list of records that can contain movieURL, dataRate, and platform, where platform can be desktop or iPhone". What are those? I read about descriptors in Wiki and as much as I could understand the very difficult language it's data structure describing a unique data for arguments to supply. I then was able to understand (correct me if I'm wrong) that descriptors are labels that contain their values, hence the "list of records" and the type of data must conform to the label (or vice versa).
∙ Even then I don't get how the list of records should be arranged, i.e. is movieURL a name of a label to use or is it a value? How it relates to href property of both QT document and QT document's track? Can I set that not-yet-known-how-to-refer-to descriptor to missing value (not planning to use as a reference to the source file but need it for my editing). Can it be like movieURL:missing value?
∙ What about dateRate? Can it be dateRate:track's 1 data rate?
∙ Finally, do I have to switch on all of the mentioned descriptors or some of them will do?
Sincerely Yours, Ilya Shebalin
