This morning I decided I'd fix that and write a custom-header-constructor for BBEdit.

How do you call this script?

Hey Marc,

I thought I mentioned that...

Nope.  I must have written a bit more in my post to the BBEdit-Talk list.

In any case — I call the script with a keyboard shortcut in BBEdit.

Ctrl-H

are you somehow able to call it when you create the file in BBEdit?  If it’s the latter, I’d love to hear how it’s done.

BBEdit is attachable, so you can intercept the make new document event and run a script.

Look in the BBEdit manual under “Attaching Scripts to Menu Items”.

Also look at this search on BBEdit-Talk:

Personally I'd find it tedious to have a header inserted in every new document, so if I wanted a new-document-with-header workflow I'd probably write a script to create one and give it a keyboard shortcut.

Cmd-N, Cmd-H isn't too much trouble for me though, so that's probably what I'll do for the foreseeable future.
