High Sierra/script menus/ASObjC

Since I installed High Sierra (10.13.1) at the weekend, I'm finding that
scripts run from PowerMail's, TextWrangler's, or DragThing's script
menus (or by PowerMail filters) cause the host application to quit
immediately if they contain any ASObjC code and an attempt is made to
execute it. The problem doesn't occur with scripts in Script Debugger's,
ASObjC Explorer 's, or the system's menus.

Is this a bug in High Sierra or the result of some deprecation the app
developers have missed?
