So, seemingly no intervening scripting addition nor script library.
And the runtime environment (SE, SE, Smile…) doesn’t seem to matter.
Could your problem be related to the Finder itself? I mean, it always has
tended to be somewhat capricious, and High Sierra hasn’t (yet?) really improved
the situation.
Could you try to relaunch the Finder (thru Apple Menu > Force Quit…)?
Or even to reboot your machine (sometimes, too much Finder info caching seems
to happen, too deeply nested and written onto the disk, and a reboot is then
the only cure).
