Hey David,
Frustrating indeed.
It's very weird that this account is giving you raw codes when you ask it for
mailboxes though.
This does NOT happen on accounts that are working correctly with AppleScript –
true?
I would be inclined to run a permissions check and disk repair with either the
disk utility or fsck.
I might also delete and recreate that account.
I might also vacuum the Mail index:
Vacuuming your Mail.app index still works wonders
