I wrote the way just to do remove 3rd character.
The computer name is easily delivered in one line (everyone knows).
set myName to computer name of (system info)
OK?
You wrote “Each computer name will be different based on the information it
pulls from the three data bases” is out of the scope.
And if you want to change the computer name, it is out of scope in this
question.
OK? Understand?
