They are counting the menu items from left to right in the menu bar and from
top to bottom, including the dividers in the drop-down menus. I do a lot of GUI
scripting and have software, UI Browser, to find these, and other properties
much quicker. Recording in Script Editor only works with the scripting
dictionaries of the applications that provide them, while System Events works
on most applications, including those that don't have a scripting dictionary.
