How do you split a script into multiple source files

I have an ASOC project who's applescript is getting quite large.  How is the best way to separate the scripts into separate source files. I've tried several things but I can't get the project to use any calls that are in any of my files except for the one created by the initial ASOC template in xcode.

any pointers would be great!
